We use personal information to provide the Platform and our services, manage accounts, process orders, payments, delivery, returns, refunds, repairs, warranty support and after-sales service, issue invoices and transaction records, communicate with you, respond to questions and complaints, run promotions and surveys, send service messages, send marketing where allowed, improve the Platform, prevent fraud and abuse, keep our services secure, comply with legal obligations and pursue or defend legal claims.
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing or profiling that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects for you.
5. Legal Grounds
We process personal information where you have consented, where processing is needed to conclude or perform a contract with you, where required by law, where it protects your legitimate interests, or where needed for our legitimate interests or those of a third party in a lawful and balanced way.
6. Direct Marketing
We send electronic direct marketing only where POPIA allows it: where you have consented, or where you are an existing customer, the message relates to our own similar products or services, and you were given a reasonable opportunity to opt out when your details were collected and in every message. We keep records of marketing consent, the source and date of the consent, and opt-out requests. Opting out is free and does not affect service communication
Every marketing message identifies us and provides an easy opt-out. You may unsubscribe through the message or by contacting [support.za@oppo.com]. Service messages about orders, delivery, payment, security, returns, repairs or legal matters may still be sent.
7. Sharing Personal Information
We may share personal information with OPPO affiliates, payment partners such as PayU, logistics providers, delivery partners, repair and after-sales service providers, customer-service providers, hosting, cloud, security, analytics, advertising, mailing, tax, accounting and professional service providers, promotion and survey partners, business-transaction counterparties, regulators, courts, law enforcement, ombuds and other parties where required or permitted by law.
Operators that process personal information for us must be bound by written terms covering confidentiality, security, processing instructions and breach notification. Some partners, such as payment providers or social media platforms, may act as separate responsible parties for their own processing.
8. Cross-Border Transfers
Personal information may be processed outside South Africa. Because we use OPPO tools and group support, information may be transferred to China, Singapore, Malaysia or other locations where OPPO affiliates, hosting providers, payment providers, analytics providers or support teams operate.
We transfer personal information outside South Africa only where permitted by POPIA section 72, including where the recipient is subject to appropriate laws, binding corporate rules or agreements, where you consent, where the transfer is necessary for a contract, or where another lawful transfer ground applies.
9. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies on the Platform. Please see the Cookie Policy for details about essential, functional, analytics, advertising and social media technologies, and how to manage preferences.
10. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected, unless longer retention is required or permitted by law, including tax, accounting, legal-claim, fraud-prevention, warranty, repair, suppression-list, audit or regulatory purposes.
If you unsubscribe from promotional emails, we may keep your email address on a suppression list to help ensure that you do not receive further promotional messages.

We use appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure or access. No website, internet transmission or computer system is completely secure.
