Foldables represent a bold leap in mobile evolution, offering a tablet-sized display that can be folded into your pocket. But ever since the first foldable arrived, there's been a persistent issue: the same fold that gives the device its flexibility also leaves a screen crease that prevents a truly uninterrupted, immersive experience and holds many users back from making the switch to foldables.
Building on the innovative heritage of the Find N series, OPPO has spent years refining its hinge and screen technology to create a truly creaseless canvas. With the upcoming launch of Find N6, OPPO is debuting the industry's first Zero-Feel Crease.1 This milestone is not a singular feat, but the culmination of a revolution in foldable engineering between a reimagined hinge architecture and a next-generation flexible display.
The Foundation of Flatness: 2nd-Generation Titanium Flexion Hinge with 3D Liquid Printing
The flatness of a foldable screen is fundamentally determined by the surface of its internal support structure; to eliminate any creasing, this foundation must be perfectly level. However, achieving that has been a formidable challenge because it requires an incredible level of precision by limiting the microscopic height variances inherent in complex hinge components, particularly the central plate. To overcome this, Find N6 will debut the 2nd-Generation Titanium Flexion Hinge, featuring an industry-first 3D Liquid Printing process designed to eliminate structural irregularities at a microscopic level.
● Precise Scanning: This revolutionary manufacturing process begins with ultra-precise laser scanning to create a high-fidelity digital model of each hinge surface.
● 3D Printing: High-resolution 3D printing then applies custom photopolymer droplets as small as 5 picoliters to fill uneven areas with surgical precision.
● UV Solidification: Each layer is instantly solidified via UV light to lock the material in place.
After more than 20 cycles of printing and solidification, every microscopic gap is meticulously filled and leveled. By smoothing out these surface irregularities, the process reduces the hinge's height variance from the industry-standard 0.2mm to a mere 0.05mm, a 75% reduction. This near-invisible level of flatness ensures the support structure is virtually indistinguishable beneath the display, laying the vital foundation for the Zero-Feel Crease.
To further minimize the crease, the overall architecture of the 2nd-Generation Titanium Flexion Hinge has been fundamentally optimized. An 11% wider "waterdrop" design increases the folding radius, significantly reducing the mechanical stress exerted on the display panel during use. This is complemented by the new Clover Balance Pivot, which provides a 20% increase in support force for a more stable and consistent folding action. Together with a high-strength Carbon Fiber Support Plate, these structural enhancements provide a lighter yet stronger base, effectively neutralizing the kind of plastic deformation that typically plagues foldable displays over time.
Lasting Perfection: Engineered to Stay Flat over Years of Use
While achieving initial flatness is a feat of engineering, the true test of a foldable device lies in its ability to maintain that perfectly smooth screen over time. A common industry challenge is "creep"—the microscopic shifting of internal layers that occurs when a device is used for extended periods, causing the crease to gradually deepen. To solve this, Find N6 introduces Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass, a customized material engineered to actively preserve the screen's integrity and long-lasting flatness throughout years of extended use.
Compared to conventional Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), this advanced material features a 50% increase in thickness, delivering a nearly 100% improvement in shape recovery and a 338% increase in deformation resistance.2 Working in perfect tandem with the 2nd-Generation Titanium Flexion Hinge, the Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass acts as a structural spring. Upon unfolding, the glass's superior elasticity allows the display to naturally "spring back", effectively smoothing out any adhesive creeping and stopping potential deformations before they become permanent.
The results are significant: according to TÜV Rheinland testing, by combining Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass with the 2nd-Generation Titanium Flexion Hinge, Find N6 reduces long-term crease depth by up to 82% over its predecessor. This long-term flatness is certified with TÜV Rheinland Minimized Crease Certification. Even after 600,000 folds, Find N6's display remains exceptionally flat, demonstrating that the Zero-Feel Crease maintains its structural integrity and pristine surface throughout years of daily operation.
Furthermore, Find N6 carries the TÜV Rheinland Reliable Folding Certification, having operated flawlessly through a staggering one million fold cycles. This milestone sets a new benchmark for long-term reliability, giving users the confidence that their device is built to withstand the demands of the future.
Engineering Uncompromising Durability
Foldables have long been perceived as delicate instruments, but Find N6 is set to challenge that assumption. To ensure it can withstand the rigors of daily life and beyond, Find N6 introduces Armour Shield, a holistic durability framework engineered to protect every internal and external component.
The backbone of this resilience lies in its material composition. The hinge casing and the wing plates—critical components connecting the hinge to the display—are constructed from Grade-5 titanium alloy. Produced using 3D printing for high structural precision, these parts deliver an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. Within the hinge itself, key load-bearing structures are reinforced with 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel, ensuring the mechanical integrity required for years of operation. Surrounding these components, the frame is built from 7000-series aerospace-grade aluminum, providing a 30% increase in overall structural strength compared to previous generations.
External protection is equally prioritized. The outer display utilizes Nanocrystal Glass, engineered to provide 20% better drop resistance.3 On the reverse, the back cover of Find N6 is made of aircraft-grade fiber, 43% thinner than traditional glass for a sleeker profile, yet significantly more resilient in both impact and drop tests.
Beyond physical impacts, Find N6 has achieved triple-certified ingress protection: IP56, IP58, and IP59. This resilience ensures the device is not only immune to everyday splashes but is also engineered to withstand the extreme force of high-pressure and high-temperature water jets.4
Find N6 represents a more refined approach to the foldable experience, significantly minimizing the core trade-offs that have traditionally defined the category. With the delivery of the persistently flat Zero-Feel Crease and improved durability standards, Find N6 will move the industry forward, establishing a new baseline where seamless displays and long-term reliability are integrated into the essential user experience.
