OPPO Grants License for Cellular Standard Essential Patents to a Major Chinese Automaker

Shenzhen, China-November 5th, 2025—OPPO, a leading global smart device manufacturer, today announced the signing of a global patent license agreement with a major Chinese automaker. The agreement grants the automaker a license to OPPO's cellular Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). This collaboration will allow the automaker to integrate OPPO's patented cellular technologies into its connected vehicle products, enhancing connectivity and user experience while supporting its strategic expansion into international markets.

This agreement represents OPPO's second publicly announced patent license with an automaker, building on its bilateral license with the Volkswagen Group. OPPO's 5G SEPs are currently distributed across more than 40 countries and regions worldwide, and according to LexisNexis® IPlytics, a leading patent analytics platform, OPPO ranked eighth globally in overall 5G patent strength as of January 2025.

Beyond cellular innovations, OPPO's proprietary VOOC flash charging technology has been adopted by over 60 automakers and has been installed in more than 10 million vehicles to date. This underscores OPPO's expanding influence in the fields of 5G and smart mobility, underpinned by its dedication to cross-industry innovation.

As of September 2025, OPPO has filed over 117,000 patent applications and holds more than 65,000 granted patents globally.
