OPPO F31 Series: The new mid-range smartphone that delivers smooth performance at 43°C extreme heat

·

New Delhi, 11 September 2025: OPPO India will launch the F31 Series on 15 September, introducing three mid-range smartphones designed to operate smoothly even in high temperatures of 43°C. The devices are built for traders, gig-economy workers, shopkeepers and young professionals who need reliable performance, long battery life and strong durability.

A recent Counterpoint Research survey shows that the most common smartphone issues are overheating (41%), battery problems (32%) and accidental damage (32%). The F31 Series addresses these directly with enlarged vapour chambers and thermal management to control heat, a 7,000 mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging for all-day power, and a 360° Armour Body with multi-layer shock absorption and IP69/IP68/IP66 ratings for protection against drops, dust and water.

The OPPO F31 series has received A+ certification from SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) for High-Temperature Fluency, confirming stable frame rates, responsive touch and fluid animations under heavy use.

Performance and Thermal Design

The F31 Pro+ is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. It uses an octa-core Kryo CPU with a 2.63GHz Cortex-A715 Prime core, three 2.4GHz Cortex-A715 performance cores and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A510 efficiency cores, manufactured on TSMC's 4 nm process. An Adreno 720 GPU and Qualcomm AI Engine deliver 60% better performance per watt compared with earlier platforms.

The phone supports up to 24 GB RAM (12 GB physical + 12 GB virtual) and UFS 3.1 storage. A 5,219 mm² vapour chamber—856 mm² larger than the previous generation—increases thermal dissipation on both sides of the device and slows down heat build-up during sustained workloads.

The F31 Pro runs on MediaTek's 4nm Dimensity 7300-Energy, an octa-core processor with four 2.5GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four efficiency Cortex-A55 cores. It packs the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, up to 24GB RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. A 4,363 mm² vapour chamber and expanded graphite sheets improve heat dissipation during long sessions.

The F31 runs the 6nm Dimensity 6300 SoC with two 2.4GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six 2GHz Cortex-A55 cores, paired with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It uses a 4,300 mm² vapour chamber with extended graphite coverage that improves thermal efficiency by 21% over the previous generation.

Software and System Fluency

All three phones run ColorOS 15 with OPPO's Dual-Engine Smoothness System that combines the Trinity Engine and the Luminous Rendering Engine.
The Trinity Engine manages CPU cache and algorithms in real time, reducing unnecessary frequency spikes, boosting smoothness by 22%, cutting installation times by 26% and improving battery efficiency.

The Luminous Rendering Engine, the first parallel animation system in Android, merges animations at system level to avoid stutter during app switching. These systems help achieve "six zeros": no lag, latency, flicker, crash, mislaunch and freeze.

   ●   High-Speed Continuous App Launch: Rapidly open and switch between Maps, WhatsApp, YouTube, and Camera in quick succession

   ●   Multitasking Under Load: Run multiple apps in the background (Instagram Reels, a food delivery app, and navigation).

   ●   Payment & Navigation: keep Google Maps running, receive a WhatsApp call, and quickly switch to a UPI payment app. The engine ensures smooth switching with no mislaunches or flicker during critical tasks

An adaptive heat strategy raises the throttling threshold from 42°C to 44–45°C to maintain performance during India's summer heat. Together, these features form OPPO's 72-Month Fluency Protection 2.0, which includes storage defragmentation, intelligent pre-loading and improved touch response to preserve performance for six years. A one-click rejuvenation tool in the Phone Manager app can restore a near-factory fresh state.

Productivity and AI Tools

The F31 Series integrates AI tools for professionals. AI VoiceScribe records meetings or calls, adding real-time translation, subtitles and summaries in over 29 languages including Hindi, English, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Punjabi, Bengali, Chinese, Spanish and others. AI Call Assistant translates both sides of calls in real time using Google's Gemini model, with subtitles or text-to-speech output. OPPO Docs applies AI-generated content tools to summarise, translate or rewrite documents. The AI Assistant for Notes restructures unorganised text, corrects errors, expands or shortens drafts, and adjusts tone across languages. A Scan Document tool turns images into editable text with perspective correction and PDF export.

Outdoor Mode 2.0

To support delivery riders and gig workers, Outdoor Mode 2.0 adds Smart Quick Launch for food and delivery apps, enhanced call clarity with Clear Voice algorithms, and extra brightness for outdoor readability.
Order Rush Boost prioritises network bandwidth for rider apps, while App Keep-Alive prevents critical apps from closing in the background. The screen can remain active for up to five minutes when needed.

Camera Systems

The F31 Pro+ carries a 32MP front camera and a rear system with a 50MP main camera (OV50D40 sensor, 1/2.88-inch, f/1.8) with two-axis OIS, paired with a 2 MP monochrome sensor. The F31 Pro mirrors this setup with OIS optical zoom. The F31 includes a 50MP main sensor and two 2MP portrait lenses, with a 16MP front camera (IMX480 sensor).

The series supports 4K video at 30 fps, Dual-View Video, Snapshot mode and 4K underwater photography. Thanks to IP68 water resistance, users can record up to 1.5 m underwater for 30 minutes, with automatic colour and contrast correction.

All models use OPPO's AI imaging engine with 4-in-1 pixel binning, HDR enhancement, and AI portrait tuning for more natural skin tones across diverse complexions. Adjustable retouching tools give users control over portrait effects.

AI editing tools include AI Eraser 2.0, AI Unblur, Reflection Remover, Recompose, Perfect Shot, Studio for group photos, Images and Clarity Enhancer to restore detail in crops and zooms.

Battery and Charging

A 7000mAh battery powers all models. With 80W SuperVOOC, the battery charges to 58% in 30 minutes and reaches full capacity in just over an hour. Wired reverse charging turns the phone into a power bank. Fast charging works between 0°C and 43°C, with battery pre-heating for sub-zero conditions. Bypass charging routes power directly to the phone during gaming to reduce heat and extend battery lifespan.

Availability

The OPPO F31 Series, comprising the F31 Pro+, F31 Pro and F31, will be available in India from 15 September 2025. Pricing and storage options will be announced at launch. With a focus on durability, smoothness, productivity tools, advanced AI imaging and long-lasting power, the series is designed as a dependable smartphone line for India's workers and young professionals.
