How to fix forgot lockscreen password OPPO

Have you forgotten the password or pattern code for your OPPO smartphone? Here's how to fix it.

Losing or forgetting your password can be annoying, but it's not the end of the world. Try these solutions to bypass the lock screen and get back into your OPPO phone without losing your data.

Applicable for all OPPO smartphones.

Unlock OPPO phone with fingerprint

If you forgot your lockscreen password or phone pattern, you may be able to unlock your phone and reset the passcode using your unique fingerprint.

Important: For this to work, you must have already added at least one fingerprint to your OPPO smartphone. You must also have enabled Fingerprint Unlock. If your fingerprint isn't stored on your phone, try one of the other methods below.

Here's how to reset the lockscreen password on OPPO using your fingerprint:

1. Try to enter your passcode 5 times in a row until you get the 30-second countdown. Now restart your phone.

To force restart your OPPO phone, press and hold the Power + Volume Up buttons for at least 5 seconds. You'll know it's worked when you see the OPPO logo.

2. When the phone has restarted, you'll be asked to enter your passcode again, but you'll also have the option to Use Fingerprint to Reset Passcode. Select this option.

3. Use your fingerprint to unlock the phone. You can now set a new passcode.

Reset password with fingerprint

Now that you've unlocked your phone, you should set a new lockscreen password to make sure you don't get locked out again.

1. Go to Settings and select Fingerprint, Face & Passcode.

2. Enter the wrong password 5 times in a row. You'll be told to wait for 30 seconds.

3. When the time is up, you'll see a new option: Tap to reset passcode. Tap this.

4. Use your fingerprint to confirm your identity.

5. Enter your new passcode. You'll be asked to confirm the passcode again to make sure you entered it correctly.

Your new lockscreen password will now be stored on your OPPO smartphone.

More ways to unlock your phone

If your phone doesn't have your fingerprint saved or the above method doesn't work, you can try these alternative methods for bypassing the lockscreen and unlocking your phone.

Unlock OPPO with email address

Important: This method is only available for older phones running an earlier version of Android before Lollipop (Android 5.0). It will not work for newer phones or more recent operating systems.

If your smartphone uses an older version of Android such as KitKat or Jellybean, you may be able to reset your password using your email address.

To do this, you must be connected to the Internet and your locked phone must be registered with your email address. Here's how to reset your passcode using email:

1. Try to enter your passcode 5 times in a row until you see the option: Forgot password option. Tap this.

2. Enter your email address and password and sign in.

3. You will now have the option to disable or change your passcode.

Unlock OPPO by resetting to factory settings

Important: This method is not recommended as it may involve losing your personal data. If you want to keep your data, try another option or contact customer support.

If other methods aren't working, you can unlock your OPPO smartphone by resetting the device to its original factory settings. Doing so will likely erase any personal data and applications you have on the device, so make sure you back up data you want to save.

If you're sure you want to risk losing your data on the device, here's how to hard reset an OPPO phone:

1. Turn off the phone by holding the power button for a few seconds.

2. Press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons together. This will enter the Recovery mode.

3. Select your language to continue with the recovery.

4. Select Wipe data. This will begin to reset your phone to its original factory settings.

5. When the process is complete, switch on the phone, go to Settings and set a new passcode.

Unlock OPPO using third party apps

Important: Third party apps should be used with caution. You should never use any software from a source you don't trust.

You may also be able to reset your passcode or phone pattern without losing data by connecting your phone to your computer and using a third party application.

This software is available from the Google Play Store for Android phones and from developers' websites. It may involve purchasing a licence or downloading a free trial.

1. Install the software on your computer or device.

2. Connect your phone to your computer or device.

3. Follow the instructions to tell the app what type of phone you have and what you want to do (unlock the phone).

4. You may be prompted to put your phone in Recovery mode. To do this, power off the device and then press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons together.

5. The software should unlock your phone successfully.

How to change your passcode

It's recommended that you change your phone passcode regularly to make sure your device is as secure as possible.

If you want to change your lockscreen password on OPPO, or you want to use a different type of encryption, here's how:

1. Go to Settings and select Fingerprint, Face & Passcode.

2. Select Lockscreen Passcode and Modify Passcode.

3. Enter your current passcode to confirm your identity.

4. Enter your new passcode. You'll be asked to confirm the passcode again to make sure you entered it correctly.

Your new lockscreen password will now be stored on your OPPO smartphone.

How to set a passcode

If you haven't set a passcode on your OPPO phone, your device will not be secure and other people can access your apps and your personal data.

Setting a lockscreen passcode for your OPPO phone is a vital security measure. As well as making sure unauthorised persons can't use your phone or access your data, it can also prove your identity if a lost or stolen phone is recovered.

It's recommended that you set a passcode as soon as possible to secure your device. Here's how:

1. Go to Settings and select Fingerprint, Face & Passcode.

2. Select Lockscreen Passcode and Turn on Passcode.

3. Enter your new passcode or select a different encryption option. You'll be asked to confirm the passcode to make sure you entered it correctly.

Your new lockscreen password will now be stored on your OPPO smartphone.

Passcode options

OPPO smartphones have a number of different encryption options to choose from. These can be found by going to Settings > Fingerprint, Face & Passcode > Lockscreen Passcode

Each encryption option is designed to be secure and can be chosen depending on the user's personal preference. The options are:

·       Pattern Code: a phone pattern with at least 4 dots connected

·       4-Digit Numeric Code: a numbers-only passcode (PIN) that contains 4 characters

·       4-16 Digit Numeric Code: a numbers-only passcode that contains between 4 and 16 characters

·       4-16 Digit Alphanumeric Code: a passcode containing between 4 and 16 numbers and/or letters

·       Face: the phone will take a photo of your face that will be used to confirm your identity

You can change your OPPO password any time to make sure your phone is secure.

What happens if I forgot my passcode?

If you enter the wrong passcode 5 times in a row, you will be given a 30-second countdown before you can try again. If you restart the phone, the countdown will continue in the same place.

This is when you can use the unlocking options explained above, such as Fingerprint Unlock for a new OPPO phone or email unlock for older phones.

If you continue to enter the wrong passcode, the device will become temporarily disabled as a security precaution and you won't be able to try again for some time. You can still make emergency calls during this time.

How to choose a good passcode

It's important to choose a strong passcode that can't be easily guessed by trial and error. That's why you should avoid using simple pattern codes or combinations such as 1, 1, 1, 1 or 1, 2, 3, 4 and dates such as your birthdate that other people might know. You should never tell anyone your passcode.

Longer and more complex passcodes are more secure than shorter codes. A 4-digit numeric code has around 10,000 possible combinations, while a 6-digit numeric code has more than 1 million possibilities and an 11-digit code more than 1 billion! Alphanumeric codes that include letters and numbers are even more secure.

It's recommended to change your passcode and all of your passwords on a regular basis to lower the risk of security breaches and keep your data protected.
